Much of the success for these artists, especially musicians and filmmakers depends upon the density and level of promotion they indulge in. The idea is really simple – to make sure that more and more number of people hear about your work. But spreading the word about your work with the help of social media is not as simple. One has to be active on the Internet almost forever. Some entertainers have dedicated teams working on the advertisement of their work on the social media. Other artists, who prefer to handle the social media personally, prefer to do it with the help of mobile computing. Therefore, it is for the artist to decide how he or she wants to remain active on the social media websites.

The other important aspect of promoting creative works through social media websites is the question – which social media website to invest in? How does one guarantee which social media website will provide them with the maximum coverage? Different social media websites specialize in the promotion of different types of works. For instance, Twitter is a good promotional website for songwriters. MySpace is considered a good social media website for all kinds of music. Facebook works well for music bands. YouTube is another popular social media website used by music bands.

Before you join the social media promotion bandwagon, remember that it is best to restrict yourself to a few social media websites. Trying to promote yourself on all social media websites will only reduce the impact of your promotional activity as well as your work.
